Peaky Blinders’ Cillian Murphy compares new movie role to Tommy Shelby as first look arrives

Blind Peaky Star Cillian Murphy said that he saw parallel between the famous Tommy Shelby character and the main role in Christopher Nolan Epic Oppenheimer who was coming.

The first glance on the Nolan film arrived on Tuesday (February 22), with his character looking very similar to the style for Tommy from Blinder Peaky.

Murphy has played the leader of Tommy’s gang in Bladinder Peaky since 2013 but the BBC’s hit drama series will end after the sixth season, the Premieres on Sunday (February 27).

The actor, who also starred on 28 days later and a quiet place Part II, will soon be seen in Biopist Nolan about Robert Oppenheimer, theoretical physicists who are often referred to as “Mr. Atomic Bomb”.

Murphy had told The Guardian that he saw the main similarity between Tommy Shelby and Robert Oppenheimer, saying that he had spent a lot of time reading in real people behind his film character.

“I’m interested in the man and what [creates an atomic bomb] done for individuals,” he said. “The mechanic, it’s not really for me – I don’t have intellectual abilities to understand it, but this conflicting character is interesting.

“Tommy Shelby is also a complete contradiction. People identify with it, because we all walk with these contradictory ideas coexist in our heads.”

The actor was full of praise for Nolan too, with whom he had worked with five films, including Batman Trilogy, Dunkirk and Inception.

“I will always appear to Chris, whatever the size,” he said. “Chris will call me and me there. Isn’t it beautiful that filmmakers still make films that are challenging and demanding in the studio system, shooting movies rather than IMAX? I think he flew flag.”

Murphy also shared his feelings on Peaky’s eyes which ended after nine years, admitted that he had not fully understood the idea of ​​the event ended.

“It feels like the end of something. It’s very strange to talk about it,” he said. “I don’t understand. Maybe after finishing I will have a perspective. It is the end of the 10 years of my life; a big adventure with many colleagues and people who became very close.”

Peaky Blinders series 6 will premiere on February 27 at 9pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
